Homemade Baby Food

My 5 month old can not get enough of sweet potatoes! They rock that littles ones world and SO easy to make. Seriously mom’s not making your babies food is silly, it’s so simple and you have total control of what your baby eats, this is so important.

I will say in a pinch there are some really good organic and clean baby food brands out there, but that’s another article. Right now let’s talk homemade baby food… This recipe is also perfect for a first solid, a level 1 eater.

This night I made both sweet potatoes and a batch of tri-colored carrots to have in the fridge and freezer. I can tell you baby loved the sweet potatoes and wasn’t as enthusiastic over the carrots.

 

1, 2, 3, your ready for Organic Sweet Potatoes or Organic tri-colored Carrots:

  1. 1. Wash and wrap in aluminum foil the sweet potatoes or carrots

2. Bake in oven on cookie sheet for about 40 minutes. Until fork soft.

3. Peel and put in a vitamix or food processor with a little filtered water until a thick puree consistency. Start with less water you can always add, but can’t take away. I also add a scoop of Standard Process SP complete (multi supplement/ whole food).

4. Ready to serve.

 

It’s that simple. I also found these great food storage containers by  Beaba for freezing and keeping in the fridge. I usually make one for the fridge and freeze another. I even have smaller glass containers I use for ones I take on the road.

You don’t need fancy books or to buy your babies food, whatever veggies or fruits you are eating make more and blend up for your baby. Trust me they will love it and you will feel better about what you are feeding them.  This also starts very healthy eating habits off from the start and an appreciation for making ones food, not eating it out of a ready made package.
